Therapy For All

Many people I love battle with their mental health. This can be difficult to deal with and often causes ripples of pain through friends' and families' lives. From everything I have observed, the best medicine for those struggling is therapy. However, an issue comes with this. Not everyone has access to get the help they need. Those who struggle with their mental health and don't receive therapy could be risking their lives. I feel as though everyone should have access to and regularly see a therapist of some kind.

Therapists usually get paid directly from the patient so how will they be paid if it's offered to all citizens? This could be through taxes allowing the therapist to receive a consistent paycheck. But of course, not everyone agrees with the concept of everyone’s taxes paying for therapists’ occupations. Just because it’s something that hits home to me doesn’t mean that it’s important to others.

Apart from money, I feel that many people don’t want to see a therapist because they find it embarrassing. Many people don’t understand that being in a critical condition isn't the only time one should see a therapist. As someone who doesn’t have a therapist myself, I fall for this concept. I am a person who currently doesn’t need mental help at all. But sometimes, I wonder how nice it would be to have the ability to meet with someone and talk through anxiety or stress.

Having a therapist can greatly affect everyone and all should have access to it. We would all benefit together as a society reducing suicide and mental health issues.
